Dear friends,
I’m sad to say that the time has come for me to stop sending out this newsletter. It has become harder to keep up with this alongside preaching, assembly preparation, and the other content that lots of us produce every week, and this seems like a good time to move on to new things. I started this project almost three years ago when I was at theological college and writing my PhD. I wanted to do something that kept me writing ‘for the church’ while I was doing academic work full time, and this newsletter was a great blessing to me in that season. It helped me to remember why I was doing the research in the first place and kept me sane when the doctoral work was a drag.
Now, though, I’m full-time in the parish, and making time for academic work is becoming more of a challenge. So I’ve decided, for now, to take the time I was using to create the newsletter and use it to work on turning my PhD into a book.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has subscribed to the newsletter over the last (nearly) 3 years. Most of the time I haven’t been entirely sure who was reading, but the statistics that substack provides gave me hope that someone was on the other side of this.
It is possible that this newsletter will evolve into something slightly different in the future, and if that is the case you will hear from me and can decide if you want to remain a subscriber. All posts will remain live, so do come back if there is something in the lectionary you think I might have written on. I have been going long enough to have made it through almost the whole 3 year lectionary, so it might be worth checking back.
Thanks again for sticking with me!
Christie
